More Notable Music 2001
Old 97's - Satellite Rides - they believe in the perfect pop song, and guess what, it believes in them. Frank Black & the Catholics - Dog in the Sand - he's back, he's Black, he's Catholic. guilty pleasures abound. Pernice Brothers - The World Won't End - songs that are forlorn and downright gorgeous. Superchunk - Here's to Shutting Up - sure, they've matured into a complex, elegant artband, but they still make me play air-guitar like a champ. The Strokes - Is This It - so they're not the second coming of the Velvet Underground, but, man, they rock.

- The Donnas - Fugazi - Continental Drifters
- Los Super Seven - Gillian Welch - White Stripes
