A close runner-up for album of the year, this disc is not only a testament to the consummate musicianship of Doug Martsch, it's also different from anything else you were likely to hear in 1997. That's not to say that the music is "experimental" -- it's rock and roll, sure enough. Just sonically unique. And Tae Won Yu's art direction on the packaging is inspired.
